SEND Teaching Assistant - Primary PRU
Location: Hillingdon, West London
Start Date: January 2026
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term
Pay: £95-£125 per day (PAYE, dependent on experience)
Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a compassionate and resilient Learning Mentor to join a Primary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Hillingdon from January. This role is ideal for professionals with experience supporting pupils with SEMH, ADHD, autism or challenging behaviour.
The PRU provides a structured, nurturing, and inclusive environment for pupils aged 5-11 who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion, helping them rebuild confidence, develop social skills, and make academic and personal progress.
Your Role:
Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH and additional needs
Assist with behaviour management using restorative and positive approaches
Support pupils to build emotional resilience, self-esteem and social skills
Work with teachers to implement personalised learning and interventions
Promote a safe, calm and engaging classroom environment
What We're Looking For:
Experience in a PRU, SEMH school or SEND setting
Calm, patient, and empathetic approach with strong behaviour management skills
Passion for supporting children to overcome barriers to learning
Team Teach or equivalent training desirable, but not essential
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
