Teaching Assistant - PMLD School (All-Through)
Location: Whitehaven
Age Range: 2-19 years old

Hours:
Monday - Friday 8.30 - 3.30pm

Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a specialist PMLD school in Whitehaven, supporting children and young people aged 2 to 19 with profound and multiple learning difficulties, complex needs, and associated medical needs.

The school is now seeking a Teaching Assistant / Support Worker / Graduate to join their team. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support pupils with complex needs, helping them access education through personalised learning, sensory-based activities, and consistent care within a calm and nurturing environment.

The Role:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis

  • Assisting with personal care, mobility, and medical needs where required

  • Supporting communication using sensory approaches, PECS, Makaton, or assistive technology

  • Helping pupils engage in learning and sensory activities

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and specialist support teams

The School:

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, or within care/PMLD settings (desirable but not essential)

  • A caring, patient, and resilient approach

  • Willingness to support personal care and complex needs

  • A strong team player with a commitment to inclusive education
