Teaching Assistant - SEN School (Secondary)
Location: Workington
Age Range: Secondary-aged pupils

Hours:
Monday - Wednesday: 8:30am - 4:30pm
Thursday & Friday: 8:30am - 3:45pm

Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a specialist SEN school in Workington, supporting children and young people aged 6 to 19 with a range of ASC (Autism Spectrum Conditions).

The school is now looking for a Teaching Assistant / Support Worker / Graduate to join their secondary department, working with pupils who have autism and social anxiety. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people in developing confidence, emotional regulation, and independence within a structured and supportive environment.

The Role:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis

  • Assisting with learning, social interaction, and emotional wellbeing

  • Helping pupils manage anxiety and access education in a calm, consistent setting

  • Working closely with teaching staff and specialist support teams

The School:

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, or a Graduate seeking SEN experience

  • Understanding of autism and social anxiety, or a strong willingness to learn

  • Patient, empathetic, and confident in building positive relationships
