Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)
Location: Darlington
Contract: Full-time (Maternity Cover)
Key Stages: KS3-KS4
Start Date: February 2026

A Good-rated secondary school in Darlington is seeking a passionate, adaptable, and skilled Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) to join their welcoming department on a full-time maternity cover from February 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to inspire students across KS3 and KS4, fostering a love of languages, cultural awareness, and confident communication skills.

The Role:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging MFL lessons in line with the national curriculum

  • Teach across KS3 and KS4, developing students' reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills

  • Create a supportive, inclusive, and motivating classroom environment that promotes confidence and progression

  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including those requiring additional support or challenge

  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback to support attainment

  • Prepare students for internal assessments and GCSE examinations

  • Contribute to curriculum planning, resource development, and the ongoing improvement of the MFL department

  • Support enrichment activities where possible, such as language clubs, cultural events, or international-themed activities

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification

  • Experience teaching MFL at KS3 and KS4 (Spanish preferred but not essential)

  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to bring languages and cultures to life

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills, with a commitment to raising achievement
