British Sign Language (BSL) Specialist - Secondary School (Rotherham)
Location: Rotherham
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, Fixed Term until July 2026
We are seeking a qualified British Sign Language (BSL) Specialist to work alongside a hearing-impaired student in a secondary school in Rotherham.
This is a full-time, fixed-term role starting as soon as possible and running until July 2026. You will play a vital role in supporting the student's access to education by interpreting and facilitating communication throughout the school day.
The Role:
Provide BSL interpretation for a hearing-impaired student during lessons and school activities
Support the student to fully access the curriculum and engage with teachers and peers
Work closely with teaching staff, SEN staff, and external professionals to support the student's needs
Adapt communication methods as required to suit the student and learning environment
Requirements:
British Sign Language qualification - Level 3 minimum (essential)
Experience working with children or young people, ideally within a secondary school setting
Strong communication skills and a supportive, patient approach
Ability to work effectively as part of a school team
