EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Warrington, WA5
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, ongoing (until permanent recruitment)

Tradewind Recruitment is currently working with a welcoming and supportive Warrington primary school who are seeking a full-time EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs on an ongoing basis.

This role involves working closely with the class teacher and an established Teaching Assistant, with a specific focus on supporting two children within EYFS who have identified SEND.

The Role:

  • Provide targeted 1:1 support for two EYFS pupils with additional needs

  • Support a largely non-verbal child, using gestures and alternative communication methods to reduce frustration and promote engagement

  • Recognise and respond to early signs of emotional dysregulation, implementing proactive strategies to prevent escalation

  • Support the use of sensory regulation strategies, including access to a sensory room

  • Support a second pupil with emotional regulation, positive behaviour choices, and classroom safety

  • Promote learning in early phonics, fine motor development, pencil grip and foundational EYFS skills

  • Assist with maintaining clear routines and a calm, structured learning environment

  • Provide general classroom support alongside the class teacher and existing TA, contributing to inclusive practice across EYFS

Ideal candidate:

  • Have experience supporting children with SEND, ideally within EYFS

  • Demonstrate understanding of ASC, communication needs and sensory regulation

  • Be calm, patient and proactive in managing behaviour and emotional needs

  • Be confident supporting early learning and development

  • Work effectively as part of a collaborative school team
