Primary Year 1 (KS1) Class Teacher - Borehamwood, Hertfordshire

URGENT: Immediate Start Required | Full-Time

MPS1 - UPS1 (London Fringe): £34,400 - £48,900

Tradewind Recruitment is working urgently with a well-regarded primary school in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, which is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Year 1 (KS1) class teacher to join their team immediately.

Due to an unexpected vacancy, the school is keen to appoint a teacher who can step in straight away and provide continuity, structure and high-quality learning for pupils at this crucial early stage. This is a supportive, inclusive one-form entry school that maintains strong outcomes following a positive Ofsted inspection and places a high priority on pupil wellbeing.

The Role

  • Full-time Year 1 (KS1) class teacher, starting as soon as possible
  • Planning and delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with the KS1 curriculum
  • Supporting pupils' transition from EYFS into KS1
  • Ongoing assessment, tracking and reporting of pupil progress
  • Creating a warm, structured and inclusive classroom environment
  • Working closely with colleagues, parents and support staff to ensure the best outcomes for all learners

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with skills tests passed
  • Experience teaching in a primary setting, ideally Year 1 or KS1
  • A strong understanding of:
    • Early child development and KS1 pedagogy
    • Phonics, early reading, writing and number
    • Inclusive and adaptive teaching strategies
    • Assessment and observation in KS1
  • A calm, positive and proactive approach, able to make an immediate impact
