Learning Support Assistant - SEMH Settings | Wiltshire

Tradewind Recruitment works in partnership with specialist SEMH schools, alternative provisions and residential settings across Wiltshire that support young people with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs. We are currently recruiting Learning Support Assistants to work within SEMH-focused settings across Wiltshire. These roles are ideal for individuals who are calm under pressure, confident managing challenging behaviour and motivated by making a genuine difference to pupils who have often experienced trauma, disrupted education or unmet needs.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant in an SEMH setting, you will support pupils who may present with:

  • Social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Trauma and attachment difficulties
  • Emotional dysregulation and anxiety
  • Behaviour that challenges, including refusal, escalation or disengagement

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing consistent 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils access learning
  • Supporting emotional regulation using de-escalation and relational approaches
  • Maintaining clear boundaries and routines to create a safe, predictable environment
  • Supporting learning through both classroom-based and practical, hands-on activities
  • Acting as a stable, trusted adult throughout the school day

You will work closely with teachers, behaviour mentors and pastoral staff in settings that value teamwork, resilience and reflective practice.
