Job Title: Exam Invigilator


Location: Hounslow

We are recruiting dependable and professional individuals to support the Summer 2026 examination period taking place throughout May and June. This is an important operational role within a secondary school, ideal for candidates seeking structured, short-term work during the exam season.

Registration: The registration process will take place at the beginning of March.

The role requires availability 3-5 days per week, with work scheduled according to the published examination timetable.

  • Hours and Pay
  • Half-day sessions paid for a minimum of 4 hours
  • Full-day sessions paid for 6 hours
  • Morning and afternoon sessions available, depending on exam schedules

Training and Preparation

  • Full online invigilation training will be provided prior to the exam period
  • Candidates must successfully complete a short assessment to demonstrate understanding of exam regulations and procedures
  • Ongoing guidance will be provided by the exams officer and senior leadership team throughout the exam season

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare examination rooms, including seating plans, signage, and materials, in line with awarding body regulations
  • Admit candidates to the exam room and ensure they are seated correctly
  • Distribute, supervise, and securely collect examination papers and equipment
  • Actively supervise candidates throughout examinations to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Respond appropriately to student queries while maintaining exam integrity
  • Record attendance, start and finish times, and any incidents or irregularities
  • Report concerns promptly to the exams officer or senior staff
    Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times

Requirements

  • Availability to work 3-5 days per week during May and June 2026
  • Ability to provide two professional references covering at least six months
  • Hold a valid DBS certificate or be willing to apply for one
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions precisely
    Calm, professional, and authoritative manner when supervising students

Previous experience as an Exam Invigilator is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided. This post is based in Hounslow.
