Science Teaching Assistant

Secondary School | Tower Hamlets

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Science Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic and supportive secondary school in Tower Hamlets.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for Science and a desire to support young people's learning and development. You will work closely with the Science department to support students across KS3 and KS4, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students during Science lessons, working with individuals and small groups

  • Assist with practical lessons, including preparation of resources and equipment

  • Deliver targeted interventions to support progress and close learning gaps

  • Support students with SEND and those requiring additional academic support

  • Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and confidence in Science

  • Assist teachers with classroom organisation and lesson preparation

The Successful Candidate Will

  • Have a good understanding of Science (GCSE Science at grade 6/B or above; A-level or degree desirable)

  • Be confident working with secondary-aged students

  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Be patient, proactive, and enthusiastic about supporting learning

  • Have experience working in a school or with young people (desirable but not essential)
