SEN Tutor (QTS Required) - 10 Hours per Week per Student

Location: Derby Areas (DE73 & DE21)
Contract: Part‑time, flexible (AM work)
Hours: 10 hours per week per student (2 hours per day)
Start: ASAP
Rate: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Role

We are seeking experienced, patient and dedicated Qualified Teachers (QTS) to provide 1:1 and 2:1 SEN tuition for two learners based in the DE73 and DE21 areas. Tuition will take place in the mornings, unless families request otherwise.

These students require a calm, consistent and nurturing tutor who can deliver learning tailored to their developmental level and specific needs.

Learner Profiles

DE73 - 13 Years Old (1:1 Support)

  • Working significantly below age-related expectations
  • Operating at a KS1 level
  • Requires a tutor experienced in adapting curriculum content and creating engaging, accessible learning opportunities

DE21 - 14 Years Old (2:1 Support)

  • Working at EYFS/KS1 level
  • Non-verbal and presents communication and sensory needs
  • History of challenging behaviour - tutors must be confident, resilient and experienced in behaviour regulation strategies
  • This is a 2:1 support package, so you will work alongside another professional

Requirements

  • QTS - Qualified Teacher Status (essential)
  • Experience working with children with SEN, particularly those working below KS1
  • Confidence in supporting non-verbal learners and using alternative communication approaches
  • Experience with behaviour management and de‑escalation
  • Ability to personalise and deliver engaging, ability‑level learning
  • Reliability, professionalism, and excellent communication skills
