Salary: £95 per day | Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm, full time | Start Date: March 2026

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Year 6 Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Walthamstow, Waltham Forest. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with KS2 experience who are confident supporting larger groups of children and contributing to high-quality learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities of Year 6 teaching Assistant:

  • Support teaching staff in delivering engaging lessons for Year 6 pupils.

  • Assist with group and individual activities across English, maths, and wider curriculum areas.

  • Help prepare learning resources and classroom materials as required.

  • Support pupils' development in English and maths, ensuring consolidation of learning.

  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain focus within larger classroom groups.

  • Provide one-to-one or small-group support where appropriate.

  • Assist with assessments and tracking pupil progress.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience supporting KS2 pupils, preferably in Year 6.

  • Strong English and maths skills.

  • Solid understanding of the upper KS2 curriculum is highly desirable.

  • Confident working with large groups of children.

  • Patient, adaptable, and proactive with excellent communication skills.

  • A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.

  • Would suit someone with experience or a graduate with aspirations of becoming a teacher
  • Ideally you will be located within easy reach of Walthamstow, Waltham Forest
