School Caretaker - Full-Time (Start Date: 13th April)
Location: Hatfield, Hertfordshire (with occasional travel to St Albans)
Salary: £23,500 - £33,000+ per annum (depending on experience)
Start Date: 13th April (with paid training and handover during the Easter break)

We are seeking a dependable and practical School Caretaker to join our small alternative provision school in Hatfield. This full-time position will commence on 13th April, with paid training and handover arranged before and/or across the Easter break to ensure a smooth transition into the role.

This is a full-time post with flexible split shifts available. While you will not be required to remain onsite throughout the entire day, the role is essential in maintaining a safe, secure, and well-presented school environment.

For the right candidate, there is strong potential for this position to become permanent in the next academic year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Opening and unlocking the school site each morning (from 7:30am)

  • Securing and locking the premises at the end of the school day

  • Ensuring the safety and security of the school grounds and buildings

  • Carrying out basic maintenance tasks and minor repairs

  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment

  • Conducting routine site checks and reporting any issues

  • Assisting with health and safety compliance

  • Occasional travel to support our additional site in St Albans

About You:

  • Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy

  • Practical and hands-on, with basic DIY and maintenance skills

  • Able to work independently and manage your own workload effectively

  • Friendly, professional, and confident communicator

  • Flexible with working hours (split shifts available)

  • Full driving licence preferred due to travel between sites
