Job Description

Primary Teacher

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Key Stage 1 Teacher to join a welcoming 1-form entry Catholic Primary School in Chorley.

This position is a full-time, long-term placement starting in April 2026 (following the Easter break) and will continue until the end of the academic year in July 2026. For the right candidate, there is a distinct potential for this role to be extended into the 2026/27 academic year.

The School Ethos

As a small, 1-form entry Catholic school, this institution is defined by its strong sense of community and its commitment to the spiritual and academic growth of every child. The school provides a warm, "family-feel" environment where the Gospel values are at the heart of daily life. While we welcome applications from practicing Catholics, we also encourage applications from teachers who are happy to support and contribute to the Catholic character and life of the school.

Key Responsibilities

KS1 Delivery: Assume full teaching responsibilities for a Key Stage 1 class, ensuring a smooth transition for pupils following the spring break.

Phonics & Early Literacy: Lead high-quality Phonics sessions (experience with Little Wandle or Read Write Inc is highly desirable) to ensure pupils are prepared for the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check or Year 2 assessments.

Faith-Led Learning: Incorporate the school's religious ethos into the daily routine, including leading class prayer and contributing to RE lessons.

Holistic Development: Foster a safe, inclusive, and creative classroom environment where young learners feel confident to explore and grow.

Candidate Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Applications from both experienced practitioners and ECTs are welcome.

Sympathy to the Catholic Faith: A commitment to upholding the religious character and mission statement of the school.

Primary Expertise: Proven experience within KS1 and a strong understanding of early childhood development.

Collaboration: As a 1-form entry school, the ability to work independently while communicating effectively with the wider school team is essential.

Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks

CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible
