Teaching Assistant - Pupil Referral Unit - Full Time

Are you a resilient, positive and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding full-time role in a supportive alternative provision setting?

Tradewind Recruitment is pleased to be recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to work at a Pupil Referral Unit in Swadlincote (DE11 postcode area). This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

This is a teaching and learning post within a small, close-knit school setting, so we are looking for someone who is flexible, adaptable and ready to fully immerse themselves in school life.

The Role:

  • Supporting teaching and learning across the school

  • Working with pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support

  • Leading a class in the absence of the teacher

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis

  • Promoting positive behaviour and engagement in learning

  • Working collaboratively as part of a small, dedicated staff team

  • Getting fully involved in all aspects of school life as required

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience working in a school setting (essential)

  • Experience working with children or young people with additional needs or behavioural challenges (desirable)

  • A warm, smiley and positive personality

  • Strong mental and physical health, with excellent resilience

  • The confidence to lead a class when required

  • Flexible, adaptable and proactive approach

  • A genuine team player who is willing to "get stuck in" wherever needed

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
