About the Role

Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Food Technology Teacher to work part-time at an Outstanding secondary school in Durham. This role is available immediately and will run until the end of the summer term, providing an excellent opportunity to work within a highly supportive and high-performing school environment.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring students to develop practical cooking skills, nutritional understanding, and a passion for food education. You will be responsible for maintaining a positive classroom environment, ensuring health and safety standards in the kitchen, and supporting students to achieve their full potential.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher looking to gain experience in an Outstanding school setting while maintaining a healthy work-life balance through a part-time schedule.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Experience teaching Food Technology or Design & Technology at secondary level

  • Strong classroom management and practical lesson delivery skills

  • Knowledge of kitchen safety and food hygiene standards

  • Two suitable professional references covering the last two years

  • A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

  • Passion for engaging and inspiring young people through practical learning

  • Reliable, adaptable, and confident in the classroom
