Curriculum Lead (Alternative Provision)

Location: Blackpool / Accrington (Lancashire)

Salary: TBC depending on experience Contract: Full-Time, FTC for 3 months (5 Days a Week)

Start Date: 13th April 2026 (Easter Term)

The Opportunity

Are you a visionary educator committed to re-engaging young people who have faced barriers to traditional education? We are seeking an inspiring Curriculum Lead to join our Alternative Provision team. This is a pivotal role where you will design and oversee a high-impact, bespoke curriculum that blends academic progress with vital life skills and therapeutic support.

Operating across our sites in Blackpool and Accrington, you will ensure that our students many of whom have SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs receive an education that is not just a "fallback," but a launchpad for their future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Innovation: Lead the development and implementation of a diverse, flexible curriculum (KS3/KS4) that includes functional skills, GCSEs, and vocational pathways.

  • Quality of Education: Monitor and improve the standard of teaching and learning through regular QA cycles, coaching, and staff development.

  • Personalised Learning: Ensure every student has a tailored education plan that accounts for their EHCP goals and specific learning barriers.

  • Strategic Leadership: Work as part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to track student progress data and implement interventions that close the attainment gap.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with local schools, parents, and external agencies to support successful transitions and student welfare.

About You

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Essential, with a proven track record of "Good" or "Outstanding" teaching.

  • AP Experience: Deep understanding of the Alternative Provision or SEND sector and the statutory frameworks (KCSiE 2025/26) that govern it.

  • Resilient Leader: A calm, solution-focused approach to challenging behavior and the ability to inspire a diverse staff team.

  • Data Literate: Able to use assessment data to drive curriculum adjustments and demonstrate student impact to Ofsted.
