Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming primary school in Southend to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant. You will play a vital role in supporting pupils' learning, development, and wellbeing.

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant - Pupils with Complex Needs
Location: Southend, Essex
Contract: Full-time, Summer Term

About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex needs, including autism, SLD, PMLD, and sensory processing differences. You will work closely with teachers and the wider school team to implement individualised support plans, promote independence, and enhance learning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and group support for pupils with complex learning and medical needs

  • Implement evidence-based strategies, visual supports, and alternative communication methods

  • Support academic, social, and emotional development of pupils

  • Assist with personal care, including moving/handling and PEG feeding where required

  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent support

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience supporting pupils with complex needs in a school or specialist setting

  • Knowledge of SEND strategies and statutory guidance

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Calm, adaptable, and professional approach

  • Relevant academic background or training in SEN education desirable
