Job Description

Outreach Teacher - SEMH & ASC Specialist

Location: Leyland, Lancashire

Start Date: As Soon As Possible (ASAP)

Salary: £168.89 - £261.78 per day

Contract: Full-Time (5 Days per Week), Permanent/Long-term Contract

Are you a teacher who excels outside the traditional classroom?

We are seeking a resilient, creative, and highly adaptable Outreach Teacher to join our specialist team. This role is designed for an educator who understands that for some students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), the classroom isn't always the starting point for success.

You will be working with students who are currently disengaged from education, providing high-quality 1:1 teaching in community settings, alternative provisions, or their homes to transition them back into a school environment.

The Role

  • Bespoke Curriculum: Plan and deliver individualised learning sessions tailored to the specific interests and EHCP goals of each student.

  • Relationship Building: Act as a mentor and educator, building the trust necessary to re-engage vulnerable learners.

  • Transition Support: Work closely with our base school to facilitate the gradual reintegration of students into small group settings.

  • Holistic Progress: Track academic achievement alongside social and emotional developmental milestones.

Key Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS: Essential.

  • SEMH/ASC Expertise: Proven experience working with complex behaviours, sensory processing needs, and anxiety-based school avoidance.

  • Mobility: Must have a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle (Business Insurance required).

  • Adaptability: The ability to think on your feet and pivot your lesson plan based on a student's emotional state that day.

Why This Position?

  • Autonomy: Enjoy the freedom to teach creatively without the constraints of a 30-student classroom.

  • Immediate Impact: See the direct transformation as a student moves from isolation to active learning.

  • Professional Support: Join a specialised SEMH/ASC school that provides regular clinical supervision and trauma-informed training.

How to Apply

If you are ready to take teaching "on the road" and change lives in the Leyland community, we want to hear from you.
