Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant to join a supportive educational setting in Scunthorpe. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students with hearing impairments, helping them access learning and reach their full potential in an inclusive environment. This role is to start as soon as possible, and will last until July 17th 2026 in the first instance. Payment for this role will be between £100 and £125 per day, depending on experience and qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students using BSL
  • Assist in the delivery of lessons, ensuring accessibility for deaf or hearing-impaired learners
  • Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals to support individual learning plans
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
  • Support students' social, emotional, and academic development

Requirements:

  • BSL qualification (ideally Level 3, but candidates with any level will be considered)
  • Experience working in an educational or SEN setting is desirable but not essential
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Have experience working within schools in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
  • CV must cover the full CV History
  • Legal right to work in the UK
