Job Title: Experienced Primary Teacher (SEN Setting)
Location: Sheffield
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time
A specialist SEN provision in Sheffield is seeking a highly experienced Primary Teacher with a strong background in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is a rewarding opportunity to join a supportive and dedicated team, working with pupils who require a highly tailored, nurturing and structured learning environment.
The successful candidate will be confident delivering differentiated primary curriculum content and have proven experience supporting children with a range of additional needs, including ASD, SEMH, and complex learning difficulties.
You will be joining a setting that values creativity, patience, resilience, and a trauma-informed approach to teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCP targets
- Work closely with support staff, therapists, and SENCOs to deliver holistic support
- Implement behaviour support strategies and personalised learning plans
- Track progress and contribute to detailed assessments and reviews
- Foster a safe, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment
- Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and external agencies
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Extensive experience working within SEN or specialist settings (essential)
- Strong understanding of ASD, SEMH, and complex learning needs
- Proven ability to adapt teaching to meet a wide range of abilities
- Excellent behaviour management skills rooted in positive relationships
- A calm, resilient and compassionate approach
Recruitment Timeline
- Interviews to be held before the end of May 2026
- Successful candidates will be offered a placement ahead of September 2026 start
- Initial period will be via payroll through Tradewind Recruitment before transitioning to a permanent school contract following a successful trial period
