Teaching Assistant

A well-regarded secondary school in Hackney is seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This role is ideally suited to graduates who are considering a future in teaching and are keen to gain high-quality, hands-on classroom experience before progressing onto a PGCE, School Direct, or SCITT pathway.

In this position, you will work alongside experienced teachers, supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4 in both academic and pastoral areas. The school is known for its strong mentoring, clear behaviour systems, and supportive staff culture-providing an excellent environment for aspiring teachers to develop their skills.

Key Responsibilities:
* Provide in-class support across a range of subjects
* Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions
* Assist with lesson preparation and classroom organisation
* Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and student confidence
* Gain practical insight into planning, assessment, and classroom management

The Ideal Candidate:
* A graduate in any subject discipline
* A genuine interest in pursuing a career in education
* Confident, professional, and enthusiastic when working with young people
* Experience working with young people (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, coaching) is advantageous but not essential
