Maths Teacher (KS3 & KS4) - Long-Term Supply - Secondary School - Halton
Tradewind Recruitment are working with a high-performing secondary school in Halton to recruit a dedicated Maths Teacher / Mathematics Teacher for a long-term supply role. The position is due to start after May half-term and will run until July (initially). You will teach Maths across KS3 and KS4, supporting pupils to build fluency, confidence and strong GCSE foundations. Daily pay is up to £232.56 per day, depending on experience.
About the role (Maths Teacher - Halton)
- Teach Mathematics across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering engaging, well-sequenced lessons aligned to the National Curriculum and GCSE expectations.
- Plan and adapt learning to meet the needs of all learners, building confidence in numeracy, algebra, reasoning and problem-solving.
- Use assessment effectively to identify gaps and accelerate progress, including targeted intervention and retrieval practice.
- Maintain a purposeful, supportive classroom environment with clear routines and high expectations for behaviour and effort.
- Work collaboratively with the Maths team to ensure consistent teaching approaches and strong outcomes.
- Start date: after May half-term | Duration: until July (in the first instance).

The Maths department
The Maths team aim to help pupils recognise that mathematics is essential to everyday life, critical to science, technology and engineering, and vital for financial literacy and future careers. Lessons develop fluency in key numeracy and algebra, strengthen mathematical reasoning, and build pupils' ability to solve increasingly complex problems. The department champions resilience and a growth mindset, helping pupils learn from mistakes and experience success-whether mastering core skills for life or building a strong foundation for further study in Maths and STEM subjects.
What we're looking for
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification).
- Recent experience teaching Maths / Mathematics in a UK secondary school, ideally across KS3 and KS4 (including GCSE preparation).
- Strong subject knowledge and the ability to explain concepts clearly and build confidence in all learners.
- Proven behaviour management and the ability to establish high expectations quickly in a long-term supply role.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one through Tradewind Recruitment).
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
