British Sign Language Teaching Assistant - Wigan
Tradewind are seeking a Teaching Assistant with BSL to join a very successful team supporting in a Primary School in Wigan. The successful applicant will report to the SENCO and ideally will be qualified and competent with British Sign Language. This role is to start in November 2020 working full time until July 2021.
At this primary school in Wigan they require support within a Year 2 class for a Pupil with complex needs and BSL. The role is working 2:1 with a child in year 2, there is already a teaching assistant in place to support the complex needs for the individual and to support the needs further a British Sign Language Teaching Assistant is required. They also have a total communication policy and aim to include pupils in all aspects of the curriculum and the life of the school.
The successful applicant will:
*have recent experience supporting children in an educational setting
*have a sound understanding of the impact of hearing impairment on learning
*have Level 2 Certificate in BSL and demonstrate competence with British Sign Language
*have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and
*promote effective, inclusive education for deaf pupils
Essentials:
*This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
*Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained
*You must have the legal right to work in the UK
