In fact, you are the life and soul of the party in the classroom.
It's often said that no day is ever the same in education as you constantly learn new skills - and this is very true! If you think back to why you began a teaching qualification, it was to teach maths, science, English or even because you held a passion for one of the foundation subjects. Who would have thought months down the line that you would now run clubs, referee sports days, offer counselling support and have learned an impressive array of arts and crafts skills that come in handy on those pesky off-timetable days.
The thank yous mean a lot too. The end of year gifts are great (chocolate? Yes please!) - but the cards and verbal gratitude from the young people who you have impacted are simply perfect. The parents aren't bad either! For every one that gives you a hard time and complains about the quantity of INSET days, there are twenty that worship the ground you walk on for going the extra mile for their child.
