The LSA would work with SEN students in their specialist SEN facility on the main school site with students aged 11-18 years old.

The right person for the job will be highly motivated to learn and grow, as this school invests regularly in upskilling and training staff. You will work with students needing support with Autism (ASD), Speech Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Specific learning difficulties such as Dyslexia, Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). The school provides specific interventions for each.

A passion for supporting SEN pupils to overcome obstacles and engage in school life is essential to work in this very inclusive setting. This school places a heavy emphasis on including SEN students in all activities from Outdoor Education to School Drama shows and out of school trips. Being creative and taking a proactive approach to adapt lessons for SEN students will ensure you make a positive impact.

SEN experience is desired but not essential. For candidates with a child-based experience and a willingness to learn, training opportunities are available. Relationship building skills, patience and initiative are key attributes we are looking for.

The LSA would:
*Use initiative and be proactive within the classroom
*Support students 1:1 and in small groups for the duration of the lesson
*Prepare resources and liaise with teacher about lesson plans
*Be aware of students EHCPs and individual learning needs
*Differentiate resources to support SEN students to achieve lesson objectives
*Engage students in lesson starters, observe and aid during lessons, support students after lessons to prepare for homework tasks and the end of the school day
*Feedback to teachers on students' progress and areas of achievement or difficulty
*Support and track the progress of students identified as SEN and/or with an EHCP
*Benefit from opportunities for Specialist Training in SEN, specifically ASD, through the school and external training providers
*Work alongside experienced and specialist staff in a high performing team

*Staff specialising in Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH), Attachment Disorder, Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Autism (ASD), behaviour and conflict.
*Programmes promoting SEN student engagement such as Peer Mentoring, Lego Club, Academic Mentoring, Nurture Groups round 50 pupils aged four to eleven years of age
*An inclusive policy which enables SEN students to fully participate in all aspects of school life, including Outdoor Education, Sports, School Drama shows, Music, clubs and activities and out of school trips.
