Tradewind Recruitment have been asked by an oversubscribed 11 to 18 secondary school to assist them in finding a suitably qualified School Chaplain to lead and develop their chaplaincy team and continue their strong tradition.
This Ofsted rated 'Good' school has consistently performed well over the years. Pupil's behaviour is described as exemplary, and leadership has maintained a great quality of education. As a result, there is a harmonious learning environment throughout the school. Staff, students, and parents are bought into the school ethos with approximately 80% Catholic students and a large proportion of Catholic staff.
The successful School Chaplain will be expected to serve both students and staff. You must be approachable, compassionate, and skilled in dealing with a wide range of people whilst upholding the school's Code of Conduct. You will also be expected to organise assemblies, fundraising events, student groups and liaise with external services and groups.
The successful School Chaplain will:
Be an efficient organiser capable of dealing with a range of activities and demands.
Be an articulate advocate of the Catholic faith confident in communicating with students and colleagues.
Contribute to the spiritual and pastoral care of all members of the school community.
Be play a central role in implementing the school vision in leading and developing Catholic life of the school.
Support the Head Teacher and Senior Leadership Team in their role as faith leaders in school.
Ensure the school environment and displays reflect the school's Catholic identity.
Be a member of the Diocesan Chaplaincy Group or its equivalent and liaise with groups and individuals where appropriate.
In return, the successful School Chaplain will receive long term support, encouragement, affirmation, and a realistic challenge. You will be allocated an adequate budget to run the chaplaincy and provided with an office and access to suitable IT facilities.
The successful School Chaplain must be:
A practicing and committed Catholic.
Able to communicate the Catholic faith effectively to young people.
Able to self-manage, to initiate and complete projects.
Emotionally resilient.
Experienced in leading worship, preferably with young people.
The school has ample parking available for staff and is also easily accessible on public transport, with current staff commuting from most of Essex and East London.
