The role is to start in September 2020 on a fixed term contract for the full academic year covering a maternity post with the possibility of a permanent employment from the school for September 2021. Teaching General Science across key stages 3 and 4 the successful teacher will join a department that's popular with students and also engages pupils outside of the classroom and with extra-curricular clubs, activities and school trips.
The school offers a well-resourced department, with 6 teaching laboratories and preparation rooms, new interactive white boards and experienced lab technicians. Key stage 3 covers the three main sciences containing written, practical and discussion-based activities designed to develop a broad foundation of the Sciences. Key Stage 4 utilises the AQA syllabus offering both since and triple exams. Biology and Chemistry is offered for both Biology and Chemistry from OCR and assessments focus on written papers and theoretical topics.
Rated "Good" in their last Ofsted inspection (2016) this is a community sized school of 600 pupils from the local area. A brand new, multi-million-pound building is in the pipeline as part of the Governments School Building Programme. Results at KS4 are good and in line with the countries average and a key focus for the school moving forward to an "Outstanding".

Essential requirements:
Experience of teaching Science to Key stage 3 and 4 is desirable and the school also welcome applications from NQT's or teachers returning to the profession.
