Tradewind Recruitment is recruiting for a primary school in Barnet borough, North London, which is seeking a Special Needs Assistant to join the team. The role will start immediately and is due to continue through until the end of the academic year in July 2021. This is a full-time role, term time only and the salary will be £75-80 per day, depending on experience.

This is a lovely school with a good reputation and a very good leadership team with an inspiring Headteacher. They benefit from very good support from parents/carers who want their children to do well and like to be active in their children's education.

The role will involve working with a child in Reception with Autism(ASC) and he has a range of needs including speech and language and EBD. He occasionally gets frustrated and can have challenging behaviour and benefits from time away from class to work, on occasions. As part of the role, you will be working with him in class and also on a 1:1 basis on focussed areas of learning.
He has English as an additional language(EAL) and whilst his language is developing, he will need additional input.

You should have a patient and caring approach as he responds very well to praise and expectations are needed to be revisited regularly. He behaves well when he is busy but they school are seeking someone who will ensure that he is focussed on school work at the same time.
Experience with children with ASC is essential and a good knowledge of the EYFS curriculum would be welcome.

You will need to be a good communicator as you will be working closely with the class teacher(often unsupervised), Sendco, and may be asked to attend progress reviews. His parents are keen for him to succeed and you will be in regular contact with them too.

To join us and be successful in this Special Needs Teaching Assistant role, you will need to:
*Hold a teaching assistant qualification, ideally level 3
*Have experience working with SEND children in a primary school in the UK
*Be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
*Provide a CV with at least 10 years of employment/education history included and employment breaks must be explained
