Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting a Speech and Language support assistant to work at a Specialist school in the Sheffield area on a part time basis.

The role will involve supporting a number of students across school on a one to basis, both in lessons and in separate booster sessions.

The children are working with a number of challenges which affect their speech and language development including Autism, stuttering and some children who are non verbal.

The school educates children of both primary and secondary aged with profound and multiple learning difficulties, many of which struggle with their speech and language. The school caters to an increasing number of children on the autistic spectrum, class sizes are small and no bigger than 12.

Experience of working in a similar role previously is desirable as is a working knowledge of PECS and Makaton. A Teaching Assistant qualification at level 2 or 3 would be desirable but not essential for this role. The role would be suitable for someone with a degree in Speech and Language.

The successful candidate should have a calm and nurturing manner and should be confident in planning and delivering sessions with small groups of children and have a working knowledge of phonics. They should also be confident in assessing the children's progress and feeding this back to colleagues within school.

The school caters to learners with a range of additional needs from age 11 to 19. The school was graded 'Good' in its last Ofsted inspection and the strong leadership team were praised for implementing an individualised Education plan catering to learners individual needs.

Part time role - Salary - 80.00 - 100.00 per day

Hold a relevant speech and language qualification and have had experience in a similar role.
This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearance (if applicable and professional reference checks.

You must have the legal right to work in the UK.
