Teacher of Music

Grade: UQ/NQT/MPS/UPS

Temporary - 1 year contract

September 2021

An 11-18 mixed comprehensive school in Greenwich invites applications for the post of Teacher of Music to begin in September. They are seeking a highly motivated, committed musician who is passionate about instilling a love for music across the whole school community. There will also be some delivery of Musical Theatre in Years 7 and 8. An interest in developing instrumental ensembles and the ability to accompany students on the piano would be an advantage.

The role be a temporary 1-year contract, covering a period of maternity.

The school has an excellent reputation within the local community with strong support from Governors and Parents and a dedicated and highly motivated team of staff. There are currently approximately 1700 pupils with a growing and vibrant 6th Form of approximately 430. Examination results are consistently outstanding and the school remains heavily oversubscribed every year.

Music is a popular choice at GCSE and numbers for the BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate scheduled to replace A level in September are also very healthy. There are many extracurricular opportunities, including a range of concerts in their own Performance Hall, musical theatre productions, participation in competitions at regional and national level and their very own annual Music festival.

The school fully supports the development of music. It has strong and successful exam results, as well as having a full extra-curricular programme with orchestra, rock band, choir and other activities. The school has excellent music facilities including a suite of Apple Mac Computers for pupils to compose and notate their music.

There are excellent CPD opportunities for all staff and PGCE/NQT mentoring support are on offer within a welcoming social community. Staff health and wellbeing are extremely important to us with opportunities to work and socialise together outside of the classroom, enjoying activities such as staff breakfast, yoga, salsa dancing, football and other team sports.

  • Be a Teacher of Music who holds QTS status or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Have excellent knowledge of the Music curriculum.
  • This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS disclosure, Overseas Police Clearance (if applicable) and professional reference checks.
