You will be working in an OFSTED rate Good Secondary School which supports students aged 11-16 years old. As a Pupil referral unit, the school aims to provide intensive and specialised support to address their social and learning needs. This includes pupils who have been excluded or are at risk of permanent exclusion, students needing support such as young mothers, students with medical needs or students who have experienced trauma, and disaffected pupils who are no longer motivated to engage in education.

The school takes pride in creating a positive learning environment that re-engages vulnerable pupils who are often at a point of crisis. Providing holistic support that address pupils emotional and social needs is essential and the school is well linked with external agencies. The aim is to ensure pupils can return to mainstream education or be well prepared for next steps after school finishes, having the skills to succeed in adult life.

Offering a varied curriculum, teaching is individualised and adapted to suit the students' needs. Students are given opportunities to complete public examinations as well as work related learning. Students are also supported by a team of therapists and skills coaches who set goals and provide students with strategies, skills development and support to achieve them.
