Are you a proactive and enthusiastic Health Promotion Practitioner looking for a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people within an Alternative Provision setting in Lancashire?

We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Health Promotion Practitioner to join our team at this Alternative Provision/Multi-Academy Trust strategies to improve the physical, mental, and social well-being of our students, empowering them to make healthier choices and thrive.

About the Role:

As our Health Promotion Practitioner, you will be instrumental in developing and delivering initiatives that promote the overall health and well-being of our students and the wider school community. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing the health and well-being needs of our student population through surveys, focus groups, and data analysis.
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion programs and campaigns addressing key areas such as mental health awareness, healthy eating, physical activity, substance misuse prevention, sexual health, and online safety.
  • Delivering engaging and informative workshops and presentations to students, staff, and parents on various health-related topics.
  • Creating and disseminating health promotion resources such as leaflets, posters, and digital content.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies (e.g., public health teams, local health services) to integrate health promotion into the curriculum and school culture.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of school policies that promote health and well-being.
  • Signposting students and staff to relevant health and support services.
  • Organising health-related events and initiatives within the school.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the impact of health promotion activities.
  • Staying up-to-date with current health promotion research and best practices.

What We Are Looking For:

  • A relevant qualification in Health Promotion, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Experience in developing and delivering health promotion programs, ideally within an educational setting or with young people.
  • A strong understanding of the principles of health promotion and behaviour change.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with young people and adults.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating initiative and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of local health services and resources in Lancashire.
  • A passion for promoting the health and well-being of young people.
  • An understanding of the specific challenges and needs of students in alternative provision settings (desirable).
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
