About the school:

The school is a primary school located in Barking & Dagenham. It is close to Dagenham East tube station (District Line) and is well connected with bus routes. It also has on-site parking.

The school is a mainstream primary school with an Additional Resource Provisions (ARPs) for students with Autism and speech, language and communication needs.

About the role of a special needs teaching assistant:

  • As a special needs teaching assistant, you will be an essential pillar of support for young learners with a diagnosis of Autism
  • Your primary responsibility will be to provide personalised care and guidance, fostering a safe and nurturing environment that encourages growth and development

What we're looking for as a special needs teaching assistant:

  • Experience: Previous experience as special needs teaching assistant working with children with autism or in special education settings is highly valued
  • Understanding: A genuine passion for working with special needs children, with an understanding of the challenges they may face
  • Patience and Empathy: The ability to remain calm, patient, and empathetic, even in challenging situations
  • Adaptability: A flexible approach, capable of tailoring teaching techniques to accommodate individual learning styles.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and therapists.
