Located in the heart of Burnley the SEN school is committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student can thrive. We specialise in supporting students with a range of needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

The Opportunity:

As a Sports Graduate at our Burnley SEN school, you will play a vital role in engaging and inspiring our students through physical activity. This is an ideal role for a recent graduate who is considering a career in teaching, SEN support, or youth work, providing invaluable hands-on experience within a specialist educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the delivery of engaging PE lessons and sports activities, adapting sessions to meet the specific needs of students with SEN.
  • Leading and assisting with extra-curricular sports clubs and activities.
  • Encouraging student participation, fostering teamwork, and promoting a healthy, active lifestyle.
  • Using sports as a tool to develop students' social, emotional, and communication skills.
  • Working 1:1 and in small groups to provide targeted support and behaviour management strategies.
  • Assisting classroom teachers and SEN staff with general classroom duties and student support.
  • Out door education and Dofe.
  • Monitoring and reporting on student progress and engagement in sports and physical activity.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A recent graduate with a degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, Coaching, or a related field.
  • A genuine passion for sports and its positive impact on young people.
  • Experience (formal or informal, e.g., coaching, volunteering) working with children or young people, particularly those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with diverse needs and behaviours.
