SEN/SEMH Teacher

Job Title: SEN/SEMH Teacher (KS3-KS5) - Alternative Provision
Location: Blackburn
Contract Type: Full-Time
Salary: £30,000
Start Date: ASAP through to September

We're looking for a passionate and resilient teacher - or an experienced HLTA (Level 4) ready to step into teaching - to join our Alternative Provision team.

We are an inclusive, student-centred Alternative Provision in Blackburn serving learners with complex SEN and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across Key Stages 3 to 5. Many of our students have EHCPs and have faced barriers to education in mainstream settings. We're seeking an educator who is flexible, emotionally intelligent, and truly committed to making a difference.

About the Role:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, accessible lessons tailored to individual needs

  • Foster a safe, supportive, and consistent classroom environment

  • Work collaboratively with a skilled team including the SENCO, pastoral staff, and therapists

  • Use trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to support behaviour and emotional regulation

  • Support EHCP outcomes through personalised planning and regular assessment

Who Should Apply?

We welcome applications from:

  • ECT Teachers (QTS/QTLS) with SEN/SEMH experience

  • HLTAs (Level 4 or equivalent) with a strong track record in leading lessons and a clear desire to move into teaching

What You'll Bring:

  • A strong understanding of SEN and SEMH needs

  • Experience working in alternative provision, PRUs, or specialist settings

  • A creative, adaptive approach to teaching and learning

  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build trust with vulnerable learners

  • A belief in the potential of every young person

In Return, We Offer:

  • A chance to shape education for students who need something different

  • Regular CPD in SEN, behaviour support, and trauma-informed practice
