Tradewind Recruitment is currently looking for Teaching Assistants for a number of roles within Rochdale's pupil referral service.
These are temporary roles from September, highly likely to become permanent contracts.
The Role
Teaching Assistant supporting students with social emotional and mental health needs.
Five days a week 8.30am to 3.30pm
Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
Assist in the delivery of tailored learning programs to ensure that students are actively engaged and making progress.
Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social skills development.
Support the implementation of personalised learning strategies and interventions.
Help with the management of classroom behaviour, ensuring students follow school rules and expectations.
Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for each student.
Assist with the planning and delivery of activities that promote emotional and social well-being.
The school are looking for qualified teaching assistants or graduates who can demonstrate-
- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to working with children.
- The ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students, staff, and families.
- A passion for supporting children's emotional and social development.
- A team player who is willing to collaborate with colleagues and external agencies to ensure the best support for students.
The school would be interested in applications from people with experience of youth work, sports coaching, working with teenagers within community groups or religious organisations or people with experience of counselling or working with children in care.
To join us and be successful in this SEMH Teaching Assistant role, you will need to:
- A minimum of 3 months recent experience of working with child aged 11 to 18 years old in a UK school, community group, club or youth centre.
- Teaching assistant qualifications would be beneficial but not essential
- This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional references checks
- Provide a CV with full employment/education history included and any employment breaks must be explained
- Have the legal right to work full time in the UK with no restrictions
