Student Support Officer - Kettering
Start Date: September 2025 | Full-Time | Long term and Permanent

A number of secondary schools in Kettering are currently seeking enthusiastic and committed Student Support Officers to join their pastoral teams from September 2025. This is a full-time, long-term role where you'll work at the heart of student wellbeing-providing practical and emotional support to help young people get the most out of their school experience.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Acting as a key contact for students facing personal, social, or behavioural challenges

  • Encouraging regular attendance and punctuality, and helping tackle barriers to engagement

  • Offering daily check-ins, mentoring, or tailored support for students needing extra guidance

  • Assisting with behaviour interventions, crisis response, and conflict resolution

  • Supporting students in returning to learning after absences or incidents

  • Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and families to provide joined-up support

  • Helping to create a safe, calm and inclusive atmosphere across the school community

Who We're Looking For:

  • Someone with experience working with young people in a school, youth work, or support setting

  • A calm, approachable personality with excellent communication skills

  • An understanding of the challenges some students face and a passion for helping them overcome them

  • A team player with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage sensitive situations

  • A commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing

  • (Bonus) Knowledge of behaviour support, pastoral systems, or safeguarding procedures
