We're looking for a dedicated PE Based 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our team in Blackpool, starting in September 2025.
This is a unique and impactful role where you'll provide highly personalised support to an individual student, helping them to re-engage with learning and develop essential skills through the power of Physical Education and active sessions. Whether you're a qualified TA, an experienced sports coach, or someone with a strong background in youth work, we want to hear from you!
About the Role
As a PE Based 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you'll work intensively with one student, guiding them both academically and through tailored physical activities. Your responsibilities will include:
Designing and leading engaging PE activities and sports sessions, adapting them to the student's needs and interests.
Integrating physical activity with learning objectives to enhance engagement, focus, and overall well-being.
Providing tailored academic support across various subjects, adapting your approach to suit the student's learning style.
Building a strong, positive, and trusting relationship with the student, acting as a consistent mentor and role model.
Helping the student develop crucial social skills, confidence, and self-regulation through active participation.
Creating a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment, both indoors and outdoors.
Monitoring the student's progress and communicating effectively with teaching staff and parents/carers.
What We're Looking For
Essential (Qualified or Unqualified):
A genuine passion for Physical Education, sports, and working with young people.
Significant experience in leading, coaching, or supporting sports/PE activities with children or adolescents (e.g., youth clubs, sports teams, community groups).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build strong rapport quickly.
Patience, empathy, and a resilient, adaptable approach to supporting individual needs.
A proactive attitude and a commitment to fostering positive behaviour and engagement.
A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check (if not already held).
Desirable (but not essential):
A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
Relevant sports coaching qualifications (e.g., NGB awards in specific sports).
Experience in a 1:1 support role or working with students who have Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
First Aid certification.
