Job Title: Special Needs Teacher - Secondary (Autism Specialist)
Location: Uxbridge, Hillingdon
Salary: Depending on experience and MPS.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent, Term-Time Only
Start Date: September 2025 or as soon as available
Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced and passionate Special Needs Teacher to join one of our partner SEN secondary schools in Hillingdon, supporting young people aged 11-19 with autism and complex needs.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dedicated and forward-thinking team within a well-established, purpose-built setting that prioritises personalised learning and inclusive education.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will:
Deliver engaging, creative and personalised lessons to pupils with autism and additional needs
Plan and adapt lessons in line with the National Curriculum, focusing on progress and functional skills
Support and guide teaching assistants and support staff to maintain a consistent and positive classroom environment
Teach small classes with high staff-to-student ratios
Contribute to the leadership of a subject or curriculum area (for candidates with relevant interest/experience)
Promote a positive, respectful and resilient school culture
Provide regular updates on pupil progress to SLT, parents and carers
This role would suit a teacher looking to take on more responsibility or someone aspiring to move into middle leadership in the near future.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS)
Proven experience teaching in an SEN setting or working closely with children with autism and complex learning needs
A positive, proactive and flexible approach to education
Strong classroom management skills and a good understanding of behaviour that challenges
A creative outlook and the ability to plan differentiated, meaningful lessons
Excellent communication and teamworking skills
