Attendance Officer - Daventry

We are recruiting for multiple Attendance Officer roles across several schools in Daventry, starting in September 2025. These vital positions support students' access to education by helping schools track, monitor, and improve attendance - a key factor in academic and personal success.

Role Overview:

As an Attendance Officer, you will play a central role in ensuring high levels of student attendance. You'll monitor data, follow up on absences, work directly with families and pastoral staff, and help implement strategies that remove barriers to regular school attendance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and track daily student attendance using the school's management information system (MIS)

  • Investigate and follow up on absences through phone calls, emails, and home visits (where appropriate)

  • Build positive relationships with students and families to encourage consistent attendance

  • Work with pastoral staff and senior leaders to put in place support plans for persistent absentees

  • Produce regular attendance reports for internal and external use

  • Maintain clear, accurate records in line with school policies and safeguarding requirements

  • Liaise with the local authority and external agencies when required

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience in a school, pastoral, or administrative role (preferred)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong IT and data management skills (experience with SIMS or other MIS is an advantage)

  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritise tasks

  • Understanding of the importance of attendance and the impact it has on learning outcomes

  • Calm, professional manner with a solution-focused approach

  • Knowledge of safeguarding and confidentiality procedures
