SEND Teaching Assistant - Long-Term Supply Role

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to work in a long-term supply role across primary and secondary schools in Greater Manchester, starting September 2025.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with pupils who require additional support, helping them to access learning and develop socially, emotionally, and academically in a supportive environment.

The Role:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of SEND, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges

  • Assisting the class teacher in adapting lessons to suit individual learning styles

  • Implementing EHCPs and behaviour support strategies where appropriate

  • Supporting pupils during transitions, breaktimes and other unstructured periods

  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carers

About You:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school or care setting is essential

  • A calm, compassionate, and resilient approach

  • Ability to build positive relationships and maintain clear professional boundaries

  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection

  • A relevant qualification in education or SEND support is desirable but not essential

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
