Behaviour TA (SEMH) | North London | PRUs & Alternative Provisions

Are you a Behaviour Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding new challenge in North London? Or are you an experienced support professional who wants to make a real difference to young people with social, emotional and mental health needs?

Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking passionate Behaviour Teaching Assistants to work across Pupil Referral Units and alternative provisions throughout North London. These specialized settings support students with SEMH needs who require additional behavioral and emotional support to access their education. We have full-time, long-term positions available starting September 2025 with potential for permanent opportunities.

As a Behaviour TA you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting students with SEMH needs through targeted behavioral interventions and strategies
  • Working with individuals and small groups to develop self-regulation and coping skills
  • De-escalating challenging situations and providing crisis support when needed
  • Implementing personalized behavior support plans and therapeutic approaches
  • Building positive, trusting relationships to encourage student engagement and progress
  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, families, and external professionals
  • Recording behavioral observations, incidents, and tracking student development
  • Supporting academic learning alongside addressing behavioral and emotional needs

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs in educational or care settings
  • Understanding of behavior management techniques and de-escalation strategies
  • Ability to remain calm and supportive during challenging situations
  • Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (where applicable) and satisfactory professional references
  • Employment history covering the previous 10 years where possible
  • Right to work in the UK

Daily rate: £90 - £115 (increased after 12 weeks in role)
