Job Description

Tradewind Recruitment is looking for a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher to join our partner SEN schools across Hull & East Riding. This is a great opportunity to support children and young people from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 5 (ages 5-19) with Autism and Learning Disabilities.

You'll be part of a committed and innovative team, working in a well-established setting that focuses on personalised learning and an inclusive environment for every student.

About the Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver engaging, creative, and tailored lessons to students with Autism and Learning Disabilities across different key stages.

  • Plan and adapt lessons based on the National Curriculum, focusing on functional skills and individual progress.

  • Guide and support teaching assistants and other staff to create a consistent and positive classroom atmosphere.

  • Teach small classes with a high staff-to-student ratio.

  • Contribute to the leadership of a specific subject or curriculum area if you have relevant interest or experience.

  • Promote a positive and respectful school culture.

  • Provide regular updates on student progress to the senior leadership team, parents, and carers.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).

  • Proven experience teaching in an SEN environment or working closely with young people with Autism and complex needs.

  • A proactive and flexible approach to education.

  • Strong classroom management skills and a good understanding of challenging behaviour.

  • A creative outlook and the ability to plan differentiated, meaningful lessons.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
