Are you a talented and empathetic chef who wants to make a real difference? We are looking for a dedicated School Chef / Cook to join our alternative provision in Burnley. This is a rewarding part-time role, working 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday to Friday, perfect for someone seeking a fantastic work-life balance.


The Role & Responsibilities 🎯

As our School Chef / Cook, you will be at the heart of our school, providing nutritious and delicious meals for our students and staff. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Meal Preparation: Planning, preparing, and cooking healthy, appealing meals that meet nutritional guidelines and cater to a range of dietary needs and allergies.

  • Kitchen Management: Ensuring the kitchen and dining area are kept to the highest standards of hygiene and safety.

  • Budget & Stock Control: Managing food ordering, deliveries, and stock rotation to ensure efficiency and minimise waste.

  • Positive Environment: Contributing to a calm and supportive atmosphere for students, many of whom have faced challenges in mainstream education.

  • Collaboration: Working closely with the school's pastoral and leadership teams to ensure food provision supports the well-being of our students.


Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience: Proven experience as a chef or cook, preferably in a school or institutional catering setting.

  • Qualifications: A Level 2 Food Hygiene or Food Safety certificate is essential.

  • Adaptability: The ability to work on your own initiative and manage a kitchen efficiently.

  • Empathy: A patient and caring nature, with a genuine desire to work with and support young people in an alternative provision setting.

  • Commitment: A strong understanding of and commitment to safeguarding and child protection protocols.
