Behaviour Support Worker - Blackpool Secondary School 🛡️

Are you a resilient and empathetic professional passionate about making a positive impact on young people's lives? We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Worker to join our team in a secondary school in Blackpool. This role is crucial for creating a safe and positive learning environment and will start in September 2025.

As a key member of our pastoral team, you will work directly with students who may be facing social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. This is a highly rewarding position for someone who is calm under pressure and has a genuine desire to help students thrive.


The Role & Responsibilities 🎯

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will:

  • Provide Direct Support: Work with individuals and small groups of students to implement personalised behaviour support plans and de-escalation strategies.

  • Build Positive Relationships: Establish strong, trusting relationships with students to mentor and guide them toward making positive choices.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, pastoral leads, and parents to ensure a consistent and holistic approach to student well-being.

  • Crisis Intervention: Respond to challenging situations calmly and effectively, using de-escalation techniques to ensure the safety of all students and staff.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student incidents, progress, and interventions to inform future support strategies.


Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience: Proven experience in a behaviour support or similar role, preferably within a secondary school or alternative provision.

  • Skills: A strong understanding of behaviour management techniques, emotional regulation strategies, and trauma-informed approaches.

  • Personal Attributes: Exceptional patience, empathy, and resilience, with the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.

  • Knowledge: A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection protocols.

  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively build rapport and liaise with students, staff, and families.
