Are you a passionate and empathetic individual dedicated to helping young people succeed? We are looking for a dedicated EHCP 1:1 Secondary Teaching Assistant to join our team in a secondary school in Blackpool. This is a highly rewarding role where you will provide tailored support to a student with a specific Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), helping them to access their learning and thrive.


The Role & Responsibilities 🎯

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for:

  • Individualised Support: Providing dedicated one-to-one support to a student with an EHCP, helping them to engage with the curriculum and manage any social or emotional challenges.

  • Curriculum Access: Adapting resources and activities, under the guidance of the teacher and SENCO, to ensure the student can fully participate in lessons.

  • Collaboration: Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and parents to implement the student's EHCP goals and monitor their progress.

  • Well-being: Acting as a key pastoral figure, helping the student to build confidence, independence, and positive relationships with their peers.

  • Safeguarding: Upholding the school's safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.


Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience: Previous experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ideally in a secondary school environment.

  • Understanding: A strong understanding of an EHCP and its importance in guiding student support.

  • Patience & Empathy: A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, with a genuine desire to help young people succeed.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.

  • Commitment: A proactive attitude and a strong commitment to professional development.
