High Needs TA - Blackpool Alternative Provision (AP) 🛡️
Are you a resilient and compassionate Teaching Assistant passionate about making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable young people? We are seeking a dedicated High Needs TA to join our Alternative Provision (AP) in Blackpool. This is a highly rewarding and challenging role where you will provide crucial support to students who have complex social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
The Role & Responsibilities 🎯
As a High Needs Teaching Assistant, your primary focus will be to support students with significant barriers to learning. Your key responsibilities include:
Individualised Support: Providing tailored, one-to-one, and small group support to students with high-level needs.
Behaviour Management: Implementing positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques to help students manage their emotions and engage in learning.
Curriculum Access: Helping students access a modified curriculum, adapting resources and activities to meet their specific needs and learning styles.
Pastoral Care: Acting as a key pastoral figure, building trusting relationships with students to improve their attendance, self-esteem, and overall well-being.
Safeguarding: Upholding and promoting the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection at all times.
Who We Are Looking For ✨
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience: Proven experience supporting students with High Needs, ideally in an Alternative Provision or a mainstream school's inclusion unit.
Understanding: A strong understanding of various Special Educational Needs (SEN) and an ability to work with challenging behaviours in a calm and empathetic manner.
Resilience: The capacity to remain patient, composed, and positive, even in difficult situations.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to build rapport with students and liaise effectively with staff and parents.
Commitment: A genuine passion for helping young people who have become disengaged from mainstream education.
