Part-Time Humanities - Maternity Cover
Location: Blackburn
Start Date: October/November 2025
Contract: Part-Time (2 Days per Week) | Fixed Term until December 2026
Setting: Alternative Provision | Ages 11-16
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a passionate and adaptable Humanities Teacher to join a dedicated Alternative Provision setting, providing education for pupils aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour.
This role is a maternity cover, starting in October or November 2025, running until November 2026, for two days per week.
About the Role:
You'll be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, inclusive lessons in Humanities, tailored to meet the diverse needs of students who may struggle in mainstream education settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver History and RE lessons to small groups of students
- Create a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment
- Differentiate lessons to suit varying levels of ability and emotional needs
- Work collaboratively with pastoral and support teams to promote student progress
- Monitor and report on student development
Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) - applications from ECTs also welcomed
- Experience teaching History and/or Religious Education
- A strong understanding of SEMH needs and behaviour management strategies
- Resilience, patience, and the ability to build strong relationships with pupils
- A genuine commitment to helping vulnerable students succeed
