Job Opportunity: Level 3 Teaching Assistant - Alternative Provision

Location: Accrington

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Full Academic Year (with a view to permanent contract)

Setting: Alternative Provision | Ages 11-16

Are you a skilled and resilient Level 3 Teaching Assistant looking to make a real impact? A welcoming and supportive Alternative Provision school in Accrington is seeking a dedicated TA to join their team as soon as possible for the full academic year - with the potential for a long-term or permanent contract.

About the Role:

You'll be working across the school, supporting students aged 11-16 who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and display challenging behaviour. This is a rewarding role where you'll play a vital part in helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons
  • Work one-to-one and in small groups with pupils who need additional support
  • Help manage behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy
  • Promote emotional well-being and a positive school experience
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff alike

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or in an alternative provision setting
  • Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, supportive approach
  • A genuine passion for helping pupils reach their full potential
  • Resilience, flexibility, and a team-player mindset
